Days of Armenian Culture in Croatia
The First Armenian Culture Days in Croatia was a comprehensive cultural project completed in 2024 to celebrate thirty years of diplomatic and cultural ties between Armenia and Croatia. This initiative represents a significant social transformation by using cultural heritage as a powerful tool for inclusivity and social cohesion. It brought together members of the local Armenian diaspora, newly arrived refugees from Artsakh, and the Croatian public through collaborative musical performances and liturgical services. These activities provided a profound sense of well-being and belonging for the community while using intangible heritage as a source of mutual inspiration.
The project also integrated the theme of green transformation by highlighting sustainable artisan production and traditional skills. A central feature was the exhibition of ceramic art that utilized traditional construction techniques to blend ancient Armenian scripts with Croatian Glagolitic symbols. This focus on high-quality handmade products and the promotion of traditional agricultural heritage, such as authentic Armenian cuisine, supports the shift toward a circular economy and the preservation of historic cultural products.
Finally, the project embraced digital transformation by adopting a modern digital strategy to share and manage heritage. The organization used social media platforms and digital video archives to document and broadcast events globally, ensuring that the project’s impact reached far beyond those physically present. This digital thinking allowed the community to reflect on the potential of modern tools to preserve history and connect international stakeholders, ensuring that traditional culture remains relevant in a technologically advancing world.
