Interdiciplinary Armenian Cultural Heritage Studies
Chi sono
The project team approaches Armenian Cultural Heritage in theory and practice in a new interdisciplinary, integral and inclusive way of Cultural Heritage Studies. Embedding cultural heritage in its natural, historical, and societal context is crucial, as is the interaction between tangible and intangible heritage and changing socio-historical values, and the involvement of all stakeholders, from scholars and experts to the local population. The destruction of Armenian cultural heritage on the territory of Soviet and post-Soviet Nakhichevan continued in 2020 due to Azerbaijan's aggressions in Artsakh and since then in the Azerbaijan-Armenia border regions. Thus, the project focuses on the tangible and intangible Armenian Cultural Heritage in the threatened border regions of Tavush, Gegharkunik and Syunik provinces. This will contribute to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, but also to sustainable socio-economic stability in the border regions. Our Heritage, a community-based educational program developed under the project, will raise awareness and knowledge of one's cultural heritage. The development of a master's curriculum for Interdisciplinary Armenian Cultural Heritage Studies aims at capacity building and institutionalizing Cultural Heritage Studies at Armenian university level.
