Project Title: SevanNET–Youth Cultural Heritage Network

Objectives:

SevanNET was a youth cultural heritage initiative aimed at engaging young people from communities around Lake Sevan in the identification, documentation, safeguarding and promotion of local ICH.The project sought to strengthen young people’s connection with their communities and create a network of youth interested in local traditions, stories, songs and practices.

Outcomes:

The project brought together young people from different communities around Lake Sevan and provided them with practical experience in cultural heritage documentation, storytelling, research and digital content creation. Participants explored local heritage and interacted with community knowledge holders, helping to record and transmit cultural knowledge that might otherwise be lost. The collected materials were shared through digital platforms and social media, making local heritage more accessible to wider audiences.

Triple transformation:

The project contributed to the social transformation of the region by empowering youth and strengthening intergenerational and intercommunity connections. Its digital transformation component involved documenting and disseminating heritage through digital media and online platforms. The green transformation was addressed through promoting a sustainable relationship between communities, their cultural identity and the natural environment of the Lake Sevan basin, encouraging young people to see heritage and environmental stewardship as interconnected dimensions of a resilient future.
